I created a historical financial model to better understand LinkedIn’s business, key drivers, unit economics, and how the company has changed over time. LinkedIn has been a private company since its acquisition by Microsoft in 2016, so I relied on a mix of publicly available LinkedIn financial reports from its time as a public company and Microsoft’s post-acquisition disclosures, including segment-level data on LinkedIn, and other subsidiaries.
